Story about Mahavtar Baba
Mahavatar Babaji is a spiritual master in the yogic tradition of India, who is said to have lived for over 2000 years and still be alive today. He is considered to be one of the great siddhas, or enlightened masters, in the Nath tradition, and is said to have initiated many great yogis and saints, including the famous yogi Lahiri Mahasaya, who in turn initiated the great yogi Sri Yukteswar Giri, who was the guru of Paramahansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi.
Mahavatar Babaji is said to have first appeared to Lahiri Mahasaya in 1861, in the town of Varanasi, India. He appeared as a young man with long, flowing hair and a radiant complexion, and he initiated Lahiri Mahasaya into the ancient practice of Kriya Yoga, which is said to be a powerful method for spiritual awakening and self-realization. According to Yogananda, Kriya Yoga is a "scientific technique of God-realization" and it is the "yoga of conscious action", which helps the practitioner to achieve direct and immediate experience of the divine.
According to Yogananda, Babaji is a master of yoga who has attained the state of "Mahavatar", or great avatar, which means that he is a fully awakened being who is able to manifest in the physical world at will, and who can also influence the course of human evolution. Babaji is said to be a spiritual teacher who is able to transmit the spiritual energy of Kriya Yoga to his disciples, and who can also guide them on the path of self-realization.
Babaji is also said to be a master of the "science of pranayama" which is the yogic practice of controlling the breath to gain mastery over the life force. He is also said to be an adept in the "science of kundalini" which is the yogic practice of awakening the dormant spiritual energy located at the base of the spine.
Babaji is said to have been the one who re-introduced the practice of Kriya Yoga to the world after it had been lost for centuries.
Though there are many stories about Babaji's life and teachings, it is important to note that there is no concrete evidence that Babaji ever existed and many of the stories about him have been passed down through oral tradition.
In any case, the teachings of Babaji and the practice of Kriya Yoga continue to inspire and guide spiritual seekers around the world, and his message of love, devotion, and selfless service continues to resonate with people of all backgrounds and belief systems.
